Founded in 1927 by the architect and interior designer Henry van de Velde, La Cambre ENSAV (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre) is one of Belgium’s leading art and design schools. It has more than 800 students spread over 20 departments or art studios: Ceramics, Animation, Drawing, Urban Space, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, and Fine Art Conservation and Restoration; in the design field, the following studios: Industrial Design, Textile Design, Book and Paper Design, Interior Design, Scenography, Accessories, Fashion Design and Styling; as well as two graphic departments: Visual and Graphic Communication, and Typography. Two new studios were recently added: Texts and Creative Writing in September 2020, and Dance and Choreographic Practices in September 2021 (in collaboration with Charleroi Danse and INSAS).
