Taking as my starting point seemingly banal everyday scenes, staged scenes or photographs from personal archives, I use paint to try and shift these moments into another space-time. People seem to be submerged in a strange atmosphere, lost in an immensity. Often an event seems to capture the painted person’s attention: as if they are caught up in a strong source of light coming from an object or a natural element.
